Dance Photography Session with Hannah & Max

MINNESOTA DANCE PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER

I had the best morning with Hannah and Max at the Minnesota State Capital. We woke up super early to avoid the heat, harsh light and crowds which was perfect! It almost felt like waking up for competition but without all the stress. We chose the capital building to have some epic backgrounds, large pillars, and beautiful architecture to add to our portraits. Wow! It was so cool. I can't wait to do another session here!

Hannah and Max are dancers at Vogue Dance Company. They are so genuine and fun! And my gosh, they are SO talented! When Max jumps, he flies! And Hannah's lines are perfection. Seriously, these dancers are amazing and yet they are super humble. I hope their parents and dance teachers are proud, because these kids are amazing! Special thanks to their dance teacher, Hannah for coming along and encouraging them. It was so much fun!

I love photographing dancers in gorgeous places like this. It is so beautiful to take away the costumes and stage make-up and just highlight the dancers. During my sessions, I make sure to showcase each dancer's specific talents. Great at leaps?- show me! Extensions are your jam?- I want to see it! Improv with emotion? -Oh my gosh yes! Not sure what to do? -No problem! I will walk you through everything to get some really awesome portraits!

Since I have a background in dance, I can really help my clients get exactly what they want out of their dance photos. Have you ever had someone take a photo of you while you were dancing and your toes weren't pointed all the way? Or maybe you were only mid-way to your full split on your leap? Or maybe you were in transition and your leg was awkwardly turned in? Not at all representative of your training or how hard you have worked to get to where you are? I think we have all had those photos taken. It is the worst! The promise that I make to all my dance clients before we start is that I will ask you to do it again if something isn't right! If I know your foot was turned in, or your shoulders were too high, or your toes weren't pointed all the way, I will delete it and we will try again! We work together to get the perfect picture! I know what dancers want when they see their photos because I've been there.

I'm beyond excited to share some highlights from Hannah & Max's session at the Capital! Check it out.

"Dead" after a long morning :)
