Alex and Brianna's Winter Proposal at Harriet Island

HARRIET ISLAND | ST. PAUL, MN | Minnesota wedding PHOTOGRAPHER

Alex reached out to me a few months ago as he was planning to propose to his girlfriend. He was planning on proposing at Harriet Island in January. My first thought was oh goodness! January in Minnesota is cold. Like really cold. What if it is minus 20 degrees or a blizzard?! Luckily it was one of the warmest days of the winter (30 degrees, practically a heat wave!).

I met Alex at Harriet Island a few days before the proposal. Alex wanted views of the St. Paul skyline for the backdrop. We walked around the park and found the perfect spot. Great lighting, unobstructed views, and a spot for me to stand to be out of the way but still right there for the big moment. We came up with a plan for how they were going to arrive and how I would disguise myself so I didn't look suspicious.

On the day of the proposal, I brought my husband along so we could pretend to be tourists taking photos of the St. Paul skyline. It ended up being the perfect disguise. We got some great candid photographs of Alex and Brianna before the proposal just walking through the park. And then we were ready to capture the big moment. It was exhilarating. Brianna was so surprised! Her reaction was priceless! Just the sweetest moment to be a part of!

After the proposal, we did a few engagement shots to help celebrate the moment! Brianna was so happy. Guys- take note. Bring a photographer to photograph your proposal. Your future fiancé will absolutely treasure looking back at this moment.
